A start to the New Year *Awareness

It was 85 degrees here yesterday, SPF 50 on, long sleeve sweater and jeans.. I took to the crowds in Pasadena to see the Rose Parade Floats.. They were delicate, touching, fragrant and beautiful.. I felt the sun beaming down on me the entire time realizing the effects of the sunshine..

Take yourself to that moment, that moment you got the news. Your doctor may have said it with kindness, may have held your hand, but the word is still the word we all don't want to hear.. CANCER About me: I am --((young)), used tanning beds as a teenager and seasonally over the past few years never once recalling signing a waiver (I might be wrong) But I know my mom didn't have to sign me up that is for sure. Sad thing, my mom later bought us (yes- us) a small sun lamp that we sat on a table and used.. I remember laying in all kinds of weird positions to make sure all spots could get exposure!! What the HELL !!! But uneducated about the facts that I know now!!! A few years ago I lost a cousin to Melanoma at the age of 32; her death became my biggest fear (leaving children behind). This is not a fight I want to fight all my life but IT IS MY FIGHT NOW.. But if I can make sure my children dont have to fight it, then it's a fight worth fighting!! I loved the sun ♥ The sun didn't always love me! Sunburns, every summer were common. As a child I remember getting the aloe plant and pulling all the juice out of it. Even pregnant I got a bad sunburn and sat in a bath of milk. The sun was more than just lighting up the day and food for my plants, it was my season to grow, my season to be me. If you knew me, you knew this to be true! We all look forward to Summer, whether BBQ's, lazy days at the beach, or excuse to get into shape. But what happens when that is taken away from you? Your kiss was so warm, your kiss felt so right but yet so wrong. Your kiss I took for granted, your kiss is all I wanted. Your kiss could take my breath away, it's your kiss that almost took my life away... The kiss of the sun, the kiss we miss on cloudy days, the kiss..... Educate and Advocate this is me!!
